Protecting Women’s Right to Inheritance

As part of its efforts to promote women’s rights and uphold the principles of justice and equality, the National Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights, in partnership with CARE International through joint funding, implemented the “Women’s Right to Inheritance” project. The project aims to support women’s right to receive their inheritance in accordance with applicable law and the provisions of Islamic Sharia, and to address practices that prevent women from exercising this right.

As part of the project’s activities, the Foundation organized a community dialogue at the State Information Service – El Salam Media Complex. The event brought together representatives of government entities and civil society organizations from the East Cairo area to discuss the draft legal provision concerning the criminalization of the unlawful appropriation of inheritance.

The dialogue contributed to strengthening coordination among relevant stakeholders and facilitating the exchange of perspectives on legal and community-based mechanisms to protect women’s rights. It also supported ongoing efforts to raise legal awareness and foster a culture of respect for rights and equality within society.

Engaging Men and Boys to Address Gender-Based Violence

As part of its efforts to promote gender equality and reduce gender-based violence, The National Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights implemented the “Engaging Men and Boys to Address Gender-Based Violence” project in partnership with CARE International, with joint funding.

The project targeted young men aged 18 to 35, aiming to strengthen the role of men and young people as active partners in preventing violence, promoting a culture of equality and mutual respect, and fostering positive relationships within families and communities.

The project involved conducting eight training sessions for each target group, covering gender concepts, the causes and consequences of violence, the role of men in promoting equality, and positive communication and conflict-resolution skills. These activities contributed to building a more just, safe, and cohesive society.
