Enhancing Civil Society Organizations’ Capacity to Lead Advocacy Campaigns

As part of its efforts to strengthen the role of civil society in public policymaking and human rights advocacy, the National Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights was selected to participate in the project “Enhancing the Capacity of Civil Society Organizations to Lead Advocacy Campaigns.” The project is implemented by CARE Egypt with funding from the Government of the Netherlands.

The project aims to build the capacity of civil society organizations to design and implement evidence-based advocacy campaigns and strengthen dialogue with relevant stakeholders, thereby contributing to the development of policies and legislation related to human rights and development.

As part of the project, the Foundation participated in sessions to identify priorities for advocacy issues and contributed to advocacy efforts related to the issuance of the Executive Regulations of Law No. 164 of 2024 on the Asylum of Foreigners. These efforts support the development of the regulatory framework for protecting refugees and asylum seekers and help strengthen guarantees for their access to their rights in accordance with national legislation and international standards.

This participation reflects the Foundation’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with state institutions and civil society organizations and contributing to the development of public policies that promote social justice and protect the most vulnerable groups.

Combating Irregular Migration

The Protection Program of the National Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights works to combat irregular migration through a preventive and development-oriented approach that addresses the root causes of migration, raises community awareness of its risks, and protects young people and families from falling victim to human trafficking networks and exploitation.

The program targets young people considering migration, their families, and individuals returning from irregular migration attempts. It implements awareness campaigns highlighting the legal, humanitarian, social, and economic risks of irregular migration, while promoting awareness of safe migration alternatives and local development opportunities.

The program also provides psychological and social support to returnees affected by their migration experiences, including those who may have experienced violence, exploitation, blackmail, human trafficking, or forced deportation. It supports their reintegration into society by connecting them with economic empowerment programs, vocational and handicraft training, entrepreneurship initiatives, and employment opportunities, in coordination with government entities, the private sector, financial institutions, and development partners.

The program reflects the Foundation’s commitment to contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, strengthening community protection, and providing sustainable economic and social alternatives for young people. These efforts aim to reduce irregular migration while promoting stability and development within local communities.
