The National Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights, in partnership with the Australian Embassy in Cairo, implemented the Direct Aid Program (DAP) project entitled “Better Health for Women and Children 2025” in Cairo and Qalyubia.

The project aims to promote health awareness by protecting women and girls aged 15 to 45 from cervical cancer through awareness-raising, early screening, and the provision of vaccination, in addition to organizing free medical screening and treatment campaigns in coordination with women and the relevant health authorities. The project also targeted children aged 8 to 15 through eye screening campaigns and awareness-raising about the risks of excessive use of smart devices and its impact on visual impairment and eye health.

The project is being implemented in Cairo and Qalyubia and includes a digital awareness program through the Foundation’s platforms to reach the largest possible number of beneficiaries.

As part of the Foundation’s efforts to promote the health of women and children, the Foundation provided human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination services to 203 women and girls from the target groups, while conducting the necessary medical examinations before administering each dose to ensure the safety of the beneficiaries and monitor their health status in accordance with approved medical protocols.

Furthermore, throughout the project implementation period, the Foundation conducted eye health screening campaigns for children, benefiting 228 boys and girls. These campaigns resulted in the identification of 188 cases of visual impairment. Medical glasses equipped with Blue Cut lenses were provided to reduce the impact of blue light emitted by digital screens, thereby helping protect the eyes, improve children’s visual abilities, and enhance their opportunities for learning and active participation in educational activities.

The National Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights implemented the 360-Degree Program in cooperation with Aspire for Training and with funding from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), aiming to enhance community awareness of population issues and reproductive health, and contribute to changing negative behaviors and practices through community engagement and building the capacities of local leaders.

The program aimed to build the capacities of 450 community facilitators in the governorates of Cairo, Qalyubia, and Giza. They were trained to design and implement awareness-raising initiatives within their communities, contributing to the dissemination of awareness messages and the promotion of community dialogue on several priority issues, most notably family planning, reproductive health, early marriage, female genital mutilation (FGM), gender-based violence, all forms of violence against women, and women's rights and reproductive health.

The program was implemented alongside the broadcast of the television series Waraq El-Tout (Mulberry Leaves), produced as part of the 360-Degree Campaign. The series addresses several influential population and social issues and uses drama as an effective means of supporting community awareness efforts and expanding the reach of development messages to various target groups. This contributed to increased community engagement with the initiatives implemented by the facilitators at the local level.
