🕊️ Youth, Peace and Security... From Participation to Peacebuilding
On International Youth Day, we reaffirm that young people are not merely beneficiaries of development and peace efforts. They are essential partners in building peace, protecting communities, and shaping a safer, more just and sustainable future.
United Nations Security Council Resolution 2250 (2015) on Youth, Peace and Security marked an important milestone in recognizing the positive role of young people in preventing and resolving conflicts and building peace, while calling for their meaningful participation in decision-making at the local, national, regional and international levels.
The Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) Agenda is built around five key pillars:
🔹 Participation — Ensuring the meaningful and effective participation of young people in decision-making and peacebuilding.
🔹 Protection — Protecting young people from violence and human rights violations and promoting their rights.
🔹 Prevention — Supporting the role of youth in preventing conflict and violence and promoting dialogue, tolerance and social cohesion.
🔹 Partnerships — Building genuine partnerships among young people, governments, civil society and international institutions.
🔹 Disengagement and Reintegration — Supporting young people affected by conflict and enabling their meaningful reintegration and participation in rebuilding their communities.
In a world facing growing challenges, the voices, initiatives and leadership of young people are essential to building peace, advancing human rights and achieving sustainable development.
From this perspective, the National Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights believes that investing in young people is not only an investment in development, but also an investment in peace, security and human rights.

There can be no sustainable peace without youth participation, no meaningful development without youth empowerment, and no secure future without young people having a voice in decision-making.
🤝 Let us move from talking about youth to working with youth — from seeing young people as beneficiaries to recognizing them as partners and leaders in peacebuilding and sustainable development.
🌍 Youth are partners in peace... and partners in shaping the future.
